My Journal’s unending story

“I have late conversations with the moon.

He tells me about the sun and I tell him about you.”

-S L Gray

“You are my love story and I write you into everything I do, everything I see, everything I touch, and everything I dream. You are the words that fill my pages.” By A.R. Asher

Written for my husband on 6/17/2024

What I treasure most is my journal with its spellbinding smooth pages, so fragrant of sweet vanilla, and full of romantic phrases that have eternalized my long-distance love story.

Every morning, I shared within its pages my husband’s daily morning text messages of his love, faith and prayers that he will be home soon.

Every night I’ve written details of how we met, about all the beautiful memories that we have created, and about how with every passing day our love has grown more powerful and unfailing.

Most nights I sit under the moon we both share, rereading these pages that remind me how when everyone else doubted, our love still continues to transcend all of society’s rules.

The true magic will be the day when the love of my life finally comes home and he reads and flips through these pages that are consumed of my scent, my tears, and my joy.

When he reaches the end of each entry, he will be left with that knowing deep inside him, just how ardently I love, I admire, I long, and I miss him.

And that in a world so dark God’s true gift is that our love is an unending story.
