Death’s Best Seller

There was a time when my world was so miserable and dark. I had lost my will for life, my hope, and worst of all my faith.

I walked through life surviving, counting the minutes for each day to end.  I especially didn’t dare to dream that I could become someone worthy of contributing into making this world a better place.

I hid in the safety of the world I created where no one was allowed, holding on to all my secrets, and silently waiting till it was time to take them with me, into nothingness.

I hid my secrets and pain behind my quiet smile, as I was living lifeless until the day that death finally found me and my unborn child.

My parents begged them to save us both.  I was told I resisted life; it took five days for my return.  My daughter on the other hand fought hard. She was determined to live.

There isn’t much that I remember when I finally woke from death’s grip, other than an indescribable powerful sense of peace, hope, purpose, and faith.

The moment that my life was truly healed was the day I finally held my little girl in my arms for the first time.

As I held her to my chest, she gifted me with the sweetest trusting smile as if she recognized the heartbeat she heard when she was protected in my womb.

It was then in that magical moment that I felt grateful and that I understood the reason why I survived those blessed harsh lessons of my past youth.

The day I became a mother my soul was overflowing with an abundance of unconditional, unselfish love and light.

A light so bright there is no longer any amount of darkness that can dim it.

There is no sickness, no fatigue, no excuse that can prevent me from living, protecting, loving, and providing for my most beloved heavenly gifts that are my children.

When death finally came to visit, it wasn’t my end but my beginning.

It was in this beginning that I finally found my voice, that voice that can no longer stay quiet.  A voice full of life, faith, motivation, inspiration, and hope.

Today I smile as I write and share my story, with chapters full of joy, laughter, resilience and perseverance.  A story I’ll make sure will continue to stay on Death’s best seller list.
